THE BEGINNING

It started with two childhood friends — Mauricio Cruz and Daniel Contreras — who shared an obsession with coffee that went far beyond the ordinary. While everyone else was ordering drip coffee, they were experimenting with flavours, techniques, and ingredients that nobody else was using.

HOME OPERATION → TRAILER → BRICK & MORTAR

What began as a home operation quickly outgrew the kitchen. A coffee trailer followed, building a cult following among San Antonio's adventurous coffee drinkers. Then in September 2023, the dream fully materialised: a permanent brick-and-mortar home at 2106 McCullough Ave in Tobin Hill.

THE PHILOSOPHY

At Gravves, coffee is a canvas. Each drink is designed to challenge expectations — from the deep purple Elixir Latte to the jet-black Xeno. The gothic aesthetic isn't just for show; it reflects a philosophy of exploring the mysterious, the unusual, and the extraordinary in every cup.

RECOGNITION

The community has noticed. Gravves was nominated for the 2026 CultureMap Tastemaker Award, with over 3,300 Facebook followers and 126+ Yelp reviews backing up what locals already knew: this is one of the most unique coffee experiences in Texas.
